I've been highlighting how important Whales are recently with my FB posts, we've had multiple sperm whale deaths just off the UK coastlines this year... to the point! WHALES are an amazing and magnificent species and also have now been proven to help combat climate change by sequestering carbon.
The right whale in particular (i realised only recently from watching a Sir David Attenborough documentary) are probably some of the the most FRIENDLY of the Whale species out there.. known for their calm natures. They got their name from Whalers looking to hunt them, they called them "Right Whales" because they were regarded as the "right ones to hunt" they float when killed and often swim within sight of the shoreline. They are also docile and didn't shy away from the whaling boats." ☆North Atlantic right whales are on the verge of extinction. Only about 400 remain☆ YL #RightWhaleToSave 📸 Photo: Brian Skerry / featured in National Geographic
