The norm..

12/12/2019

When things just become the norm.. first a “harmless” bit of fishing rope next we have sperm whales beached and washed up with stomachs full of plastic. This is serious and it’s an emergency. Waste management has never been more important but I feel that we need political leaders willing to take these matters very seriously and actively look to implement change across the board.
🐋
We need leaders who will take action. We need leaders to be there for us and also our planet! To tackle the serious issues we all face and create change.
For future generations. YL

North Atlantic right whales are on the verge of extinction. Only about 400 remain

I've been highlighting how important Whales are recently with my FB posts, we've had multiple sperm whale deaths just off the UK coastlines this year... to the point! WHALES are an amazing and magnificent species and also have now been proven to help combat climate change by sequestering carbon.

The right whale in particular (i realised only recently from watching a Sir David Attenborough documentary) are probably some of the the most FRIENDLY of the Whale species out there.. known for their calm natures.

They got their name from Whalers looking to hunt them, they called them "Right Whales" because they were regarded as the "right ones to hunt" they float when killed and often swim within sight of the shoreline. They are also docile and didn't shy away from the whaling boats."

Art portrait

Revisiting experimental digital art mixed with a natural light portrait. I just loved the strength in this. All about female empowerment.

Gender equality is no5 of the United Nations sustainable development goals.
⚡️
“Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world. Unfortunately, at the current time, 1 in 5 women and girls between the ages of 15-49 have reported experiencing physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner within a 12-month period and 49 countries currently have no laws protecting women from domestic violence. Progress is occurring regarding harmful practices such as child marriage and FGM (Female Genital Mutilation), which has declined by 30% in the past decade, but there is still much work to be done to completely eliminate such practices.
💫
Providing women and girls with equal access to education, health care, decent work, and representation in political and economic decision-making processes will fuel sustainable economies and benefit societies and humanity at large. Implementing new legal frameworks regarding female equality in the workplace and the eradication of harmful practices targeted at women is crucial to ending the gender-based discrimination prevalent in many countries around the world.”

Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities! 🎉
💙Observed by the United Nations.

I'm lucky enough to work with and have met a lot of special people. People i have come to know in our local community and people who I can also call friends.

My job as a support worker quite literally changed my life 9x years ago and I know all the girls I work with currently and guys I've met along the way who also do this role will completely agree that we all LOVE our roles as support workers! ☆

Just because a man lacks the use of his eyes doesn’t mean he lacks vision.”
