It's been all sorts of cray, cray here recently! I tell ya, anyone who's tried managing & growing a business while working full-time an average 50 hrs per week in another job will know what I'm talking about!.. Sometimes it feels like you don't know which way is up!.. ;) Things have been busy! and steadily growing month to month, and I'm not going to lie.. I've loved every minute of it. I have a wedding coming up in November! but there are times that you've got to just switch off and put work to one side. This year I found that on the beginning of each annual leave I'd booked in different photo shoots thinking that I'd have lots of time to edit.. Which I did btw. BUT what are annual leaves for?? I hear you say, "soft white Fiji sands.. and margaritas on the beach" YES!!! Or Anglesey sands, depending on your budget ;) Well what I found was that during my yearly "relaxing time" I was still "busy" and if you've ever read a Chase Jarvis's blog, then you'll know that there are different types of "busy" and what every entrepreneur needs to realise is that "busy" doesn't always mean "productive" so after I handled all of my work, I started being more conscious about switching off and making time to rest and rejuvenate. But I didn't realise that the one thing I really needed to do more than anything else was to celebrate!! Do any of us make time to celebrate anymore?? We should do. I think celebrating is SO important. It's like breathing It gives you chance to give thanks, enjoy & let-off any pent-up steam which in turn creates more room for natural creative energies to flow. So recently what I learnt to do more of is "knowing when to celebrate" I took time out with my family and went swimming in the sea, I haven't laughed so hard in what felt like years!! Running a business consumes a lot of energy, it takes time. It's a marathon, not a sprint. I've been partaking in photo shoots and ongoing training and development for the last 3x years. It was about time I took a breather and let myself really relax and celebrate. Even though I always know I can be better, I have room to grow and develop.. It will happen naturally and organically. You can neither push a river down a stream or tug at a tree sapling to make it grow! Movement and growth can't be controlled or dictated. Only guided. Guided by our choices. So choose to work hard & play hard. We are all made of stars. Yx Love X

As a new school year begins and all of the kids are fresh in their new uniforms.. my niece Leyla gave me the run-down yesterday "this is new, and that's new. This is a bit big because I'm growing.. aand I've got new sparkly shoes which I can't scuff or get dirty ca, cause if I do the headmaster will shout) bless!! I pictured my brother or his wife telling her this in all seriousness and possibly a parent tactic to help her look pristine in her new uniform. So we're now looking towards homework, new growth, birthdays, Halloween, Bonfire Night and of course Christmas. (Or am I wishing the year away too soon?) 3x months until another new "official" year.. So, what have you achieved? or what do you hope to achieve.. and also what are you working towards right now? My homework for the week is going to be goal setting. Maybe we should have another date in our diaries to look forward to.. Yx |
