What ignited you recently?

What ignited my desire to pursue photography?
💮
Well as I've said before.. I came across a photographer online wayyy back in around 2011, her name is Jasmine Star. She is now my coach and mentor and inspires me in a whole different arena. More business and development over aesthetic, although I love her style! It's clean and fresh. But wayy back when she used to shoot engagement sessions I came across her work then and you know.. something about her images then, they just moved me. I connected with them instantly.
⚡
They gave me a feeling of "possibility".. I saw creativity and I felt the mood and expression. Since then probably.. literally 100's of photographers and artists have inspired me, and I continue to find new works which open my eyes further.
✨
That feeling I have when I view certain, different pieces of art or i find an artist I absolutely fall in love with and resonate with.. you can't describe the feeling, it just is. I knew.. back then then that my connection to visual art was real as it threw oxygen to the flame that was already burning inside me. I've been exploring that ever since.
🌌
Image after image, my skills have grown & blossomed. It didn't happen over night and as I learned to find my own eye, feel & mood.. I have felt more and more connected to what I'm doing. It's all about trial, error, growth & development and like I always say! It's all a work in progress.
🎨
But don't you love that about photography/art? No two pieces are ever the same but you do get series or bodies of work as you create you get to see them emerge over the weeks, months & years. What's your why?

Here's to finding your 🧿

That one thing..

Happy Monday friends! How are you creating and innovating today? 🕊

I aim to try and do one new thing each day.. I said aim! I mean I'm human, I sometimes don't reach my goals, but you know what? I aim too. (There's a quote there somewhere) 🌙🌌

Some days may be like that ⬆️ but you will ALWAYS have other days when your energy or time is much less restricted, so those are the days you can "get your things DONE".

We all have aims, goals, objectives, dreams & desires. So what can move you closer?

I work by the philosophy of doing just 1x thing which moves me closer to my goal. So that's like...

That 1x phone call you just need to make.
That 1x piece of research you just need to do. That 1x new connection you just made.
1x new inspiration for the day.

You get it.. "That one thing"

(so if we say "aim" to do just 1x thing each day.. then that's 366 (potential) new things this year! with this extra day this leap year)

366 potential new experiences..
366 potential new reasons for growth and development..
366 potential changes or support to your community or charity.
366 day of believing that the 🌍 is your oyster (because it IS)

Carpe diem baby.. 🙌

Finding light

We are all on our own paths.. the path of self discovery, finding our spirituality, growing, learning and developing from life’s experiences. As one chapter ends another begins. That’s life. Gratitude is something I try and practice regularly, be it taking a deep and full breath of air, enjoying a shower or savouring some food there is always something to appreciate. Finding the light in everyday tasks I think leads to a real sense of happiness and it’s surprising how people get burned out, stressed out and are surrounded by frustration.

Finding the light is a state of being, a state where anger and frustration can’t touch you & your worries are absent for a time. Finding the light is finding your state of peace. Finding your balance in this high driven, competitive world.

In fact I read that; “Scientific research on stress and anxiety offers various perspectives. The increasing pace of life, rushed and competitive lifestyles mean that stress is an integral part of human life. A person in a state of adapting to stress shows behavioral defenses. This leads to changes in one’s cognitive processes and emotional landscape. Stress is a well-known contributor to mood, mental disorders, and suicide risk. Stress is a term often used synonymously with negative life experiences, or life events. The long persistence of an overloading condition, in this case, stress, ultimately leads to mental health disturbances or the appearance of disease”

So being in a state of stress is literally like a silent killer affecting multiple areas of your life. Personally I dipped in and out of self help books over my teens and 20’s. Learning colour therapy, crystal meanings, Reiki, angel readings and stories, learning meditation.. I had a deep love of native American ways, what captivated me was their connection to the earth and wildlife around them to a great spirit Wakan Tanka or Buddhism.. you name it I explored it.

So this long road of awakening was a gradual process for me of learning and exploring what i naturally gravitated towards. It wasn’t until I came back around full circle, back to my Christian roots that I started to feel a deeper peace and understanding. A deeper connection to God. God however that looks for you, be it a universal life force energy, or one of the many religious beliefs or maybe you have no belief at all! You know.. it really doesn’t matter. What matters is you staying authentic to your heart, mind and your soul. For me the world is more interesting with an array of beliefs. It’s the spice of life.. it makes things interesting an It makes people alluring. We are all complex and unique that’s what makes life so intriguing.

Embrace your light.. however that takes shape for you, whichever form it creates. It’s interesting.. boomshakalaka.

Hope you’re having a great week! YL
